January 1, time for a resolution post!

January 1, 2017
Sara

Ugh, new year's resolutions. Mine are always either grandiose and destined for failure ("No more sugar ever!" LOLZ!), or they're so blandly aspirational that I can't wrap my head around them ("Be more mindful in the moment." Ooooo ... kay?)

So as 2017 peeks over the horizon, I'm making some book-based pledges for the year that I think I just might be able to keep:

  1. When I read a book I love this year, I'll review it on Amazon or Goodreads. The author worked hard and deserves the kudos.
  2. I'll shake up my genre reading in 2017. I've fallen into a hardcore contemporary romance rut recently. Well, not a rut; they're the books I love the most. But at the same time, I've slacked on reading epic fantasy, modern fiction, mystery, even historical romances. Variety is good for the soul — and the creative mind.
  3. Excel will continue to help me track the books I pick up. For five years now, I've entered the title of every book I read, along with the author, genre, and month, into a spreadsheet. It's nerdy stuff, but it's great fun to look back and see what I was reading last month or last year. If someone's looking for book recommendations, it's easy peasy to scan the titles that I enjoyed the most in the genre of their choice.
  4. Keeeeeeeep wriiiiiiiting. Book 1 of the Beau Couer series is done, and I'm shopping around for publication outlets. Time to forge ahead on book 2!

What about you, friends? Do you make resolutions, or do you resolve not to resolve? (And yes, the title of this post does make reference to a Supernatural episode. Thanks for noticing!)
